Moonset (A Poem from Katie)

I woke up early enough
to watch the moonset over the mountain
the sky, illuminated
returned again to darkness
before the deep blue to soft purple tone
of the sun’s rise.

Presence in the space between
moonset and sunrise
an everyday secret
mostly forgotten.

A still moment
before remembered plans that make it harder to feel the peace of dreams.

A call to hold close
the pause
between what was and what will be.
